Sgt. Douglas W. Norman re-enlists

Sgt. Douglas W. Norman
requested a transfer to the Old Guard; Honor Guard duty at Arlington
National Cemetery. In order for the transfer he was required to re-enlist
for three years and had made the decision to do so in honor of Sgt. Justin
W. Garvey and Sgt. Jason D. Jordan.
Sgt. Norman was the only
survivor of the ambush on July 20th, 2003 that claimed the lives of Sgt.
Garvey and Sgt. Jordan.
His re-enlistment oath will be administered by Captain
Eddie Mills who served with Sgt. Garvey during Operation Enduring Freedom
and is currently a Ranger school instructor. |

Sgt. Norman will be
accompanied by S/Sgt. Rick Montgomery, S/Sgt. Patrick Roth, Sgt. Jeffery
Neal, Pfc. William Staton; all of whom served with Sgt. Norman, Sgt.
Garvey and Sgt. Jordan during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Also attending will be his father Matt, wife Alison, S/Sgt. Montgomery's
wife and Sgt. Garvey's sister, Kristin Garvey Montgomery. |
